Elementary Bayesian Biostatistics
Lemuel A. Moyé
The Bayes perspective carries a new and refreshing point of view about the field of biostatistics. Like a fresh spring breeze blowing through a room closed off all winter, inhaling its new, warm currents can be dizzying. Allowing scientists to focus on the hypothesis that they believe (rather than being forced to disprove what they donít believe) is a powerful attractor. Incorporating relevant prior infor- mation about the parameter of interest adds to the appeal. In fact, the common reac- tion of both physician-researchers and uninitiated biostatisticians to the Bayes ap- proach is a sense of relief. Here, at last, is a collection of processes that fits their intuition and appreciation of the scientific method.
